Natural hair:Am I over this natural hair thing?

Hello every one, hope you are having a great day?
Today, I will be talking about my experience with natural hair journey. Going on a natural hair journey to me is about learning /discovering new things about myself and a lot of feelings might change based on new discoveries.

I've been natural for the past 14 months and I've gotten  to a point where I want to cut it but then again I don’t. I want to style it but then again I don’t. I'm just bored and I'm considering relaxing my hair.

Most times people only talk about how good natural hair is but they never mention their frustrations about natural hair. Don't get me wrong, I love my natural hair but I've hit a brick wall and I don't know what next to do.

 Do you get tired of natural, relaxed, curly hair, any kind of hair?
What do you do to get through these times?
Please leave your comments below.

Until next time
Have a great day...
Ashabi
xoxo

  1. Hi there,
    I've been natural for over ten years, and during that time period I've done a big chop (of long blondish natural hair) to a short relaxed dyed cut, and then back to long natural curls again. I bore so easily with my hair, and sometimes I don't feel like expending the energy and creativity to keep my natural hair styles fun. I resort to buns and hats, or like now, straightening it. Oh- and dyeing it. I do weaves and wigs at times, but now I'm on a break from those as well. My last protective style was braids back in the summer, but because my hair is long I found them to be too heavy and thick for a lot of the cute styles I would have liked to wear them in... {SIGH}

  2. I have been natural since 2010 and I have done another chop last year ,so my hair is growing back again. I get frustrated daily with my hair. There was a time when my hair was just breaking like crazy , maybe because i was not taking care of it like i should have. It is ok to relaxe your hair if you want to, there is nothing wrong with that. I think having natural hair has became a trend recently and even though people get frustrated with their hairs, they are also scared of the backlash from the natural hair community. Do what you want luv.

    1. Thanks so much Ciaa... The backlash has always been a problem... Most people only talk about how happy they are about natural hair and am glad that am not on my own...

  3. Hi Ashabi, it's true that natural hair is the trend lately. I love it on people though but I don't think I have the strength. My friends decided to go natural and asked me to join in but just maintaining my relaxer-due hair was a problem. The combing and all. Try browse styles u can do with your natural hair and see how far you can go still. Wish you the very best

  4. Hello Ashabi
    Just try to remind yourself why you decided to go natural in the first place. I first went natural in 2005 (because I was moving to Darlington and I just couldn't afford to keep up with hair maintenance) I didn't understand my hair at this time and I wasn't well informed on how to keep my hair. Eventually, I succumbed to the relaxer in 2009. the minute I relaxed my hair, I knew it was the wrong decision. Again in 2010, I decided to cut off my hair and start allover again. this time around, I decided to go natural because I couldn't get my head around the fact that God would create a black woman with such unique hair and then I kill the beauty by rejecting the uniqueness of my being through relaxers! I just couldn't believe God put this hair on my head in error. So, with more conviction, I kept my natural hair and I haven't looked back. I have more information on my hair and rather than relax it, i would cut it as I feel short natural hair really is more flexible and stylish. If you get tired, there is nothing wrong with fixing extensions or putting in braids. All the best with your journey.

  5. i do and in fact because i got tired of loose natural hair i decided two days ago to loc up. couldn't be happier! :D my hair is shoulder length and honestly looks identical to its loose state, the difference being the induced microtangles (I backcombed those in to get them to hold because my hair loosens easily) and the sections (i probly have about 200 locs) and the fact that i'll no longer have to detangle my hair! i can just wake up and go, and literally wash and go. dream come true! of course, i'm only on day two lol but i'm reallly hoping this ease of maintenance stays true
